Reseeding   -   Lawn Repair


For new seeding   free area with a prepared soil surface is the basis; the soil is handled in such a way that the seeds is brought either under the soil  or is brought onto the soil and then the seed is pressed into the soil by rolling the area to achieve a good soil contact and to reduce the displacement effects by rain or wind as far as avoiding the seeds to become birdfeed.  

 Different from the new seeding process in the  reseeding or lawn repair  process significant parts of the lawn or meadow  are still covered with lawn or grass; there are lots of spotty areas with minor or bigger grassless gaps which have to be repaired resp. filled again.


In the reseeding it is not economic and nearly impossible to prepare the soil in the spots in a necessary manner for optimal seed germination conditions. Due to failing of  suited seed for the repair normally the standard ‘bare‘ seed is used for the repair resp. reseeding. In the reseeding with normal (uncoated) seed the soil contact generally is insufficient and the majority of the seed is either drying out or becomes birdfeed  -  general experience says that the grass growth only results out of  5% to 25% of the reseeding  -  which finally also is a waste of seed.  Another phenomenon with normal seed reseeding is the displacement by wind and the water displacement due to collecting of seed corns in deepening puddles after rain or watering.  


With seed pellets  the first time a suited and efficient reseeding product is available:

 Pellets manufactured with Instant Seed technology contain depending on the seed type 20% to 30% weight share (meaning appr. 30% to 45% volume share of the pellet); the seed corns are protected by a matrix resistive against environmental impact; the matrix consists out of ecologic  nature material (clay as the main part) and increases the specific weight above the water weight and so avoids seed swimming away after watering ,  displacement  by wind is no issue anymore. The weight brings the necessary good soil contact and the shape of the seed pellet helps in safe anchoring to the soil. Germination can start already in the matrix material, humidity is stored in the matrix and pre-empts easy drying out.  


The nearly complete germination of the seed pellets have the effect that in the reseeding 1kg of the pellets have  the same  or even a higher germination effect as 1 kg of the normal seed  -  but saving 70% or more usage of the seed. The seed pellets dramatically can reduce the  consumption of seed in total and enable use of much more expensive seed types at comparibly low total costs   -   finally a really ecologic and economic product innovation !
